The Oxon HyperStart™ is a drop-in replacement for standard Group 31 batteries built specifically for semi-truck starting systems. It exists to help you start your truck, every time, in any condition.
The best way to start your trucks
Truck starting systems haven’t changed in decades. Lead acid batteries degrade quickly, struggle in cold weather, and are forced to power both hotel loads and engine starts—creating a system where failure is common and downtime is tolerated.
The Oxon HyperStart™ changes that.
By dedicating starting power and boosting voltage to the starter motor, HyperStart™ delivers consistent cranking performance while extending battery life, eliminating jump starts, and keeping trucks on the road.

Start your truck. Every time.
Never miss a delivery
When a truck won’t start, freight doesn’t move and schedules fall apart. HyperStart™ delivers up to 4,000 amps of cranking power by boosting the voltage to the starter motor, ensuring consistent ignition every time the key turns.
Eliminate jump starts and unnecessary service calls
A single mobile jump start typically costs $300-$500—not including lost time and delayed freight. HyperStart™ prevents no-start situations, eliminating service calls, protecting starter motors, and keeping trucks on the road where they belong.
Stop draining your power overnight
Most trucks use the same batteries for engine starts and hotel loads like refrigeration and climate control. HyperStart™ boosts voltage during starts, ensuring reliable cranking power even when other batteries are drained.
Reduce the need to replace your batteries
Lead acid batteries in fleet use often need replacement every 18-24 months because they are no longer able to provide sufficient starting power, even though they can still provide hotel power. Not only is HyperStart™ designed for 5+ years of service, the other batteries can continue to supply hotel power for many more years, dramatically reducing maintenance cycles, service calls, and downtime.
Start strong in any weather
Cold weather reduces the power output of traditional lead acid batteries. HyperStart™ includes an internal heater and lithium iron phosphate chemistry that maintains voltage under load, helping trucks start reliably even in extreme cold, down to -40C.
Eliminate idling
With HyperStart™ as a dedicated starting battery, there is no longer a need to idle. The remaining lead acid batteries can supply the power for all hotel loads. Even if they are completely drained, the HyperStart™ will still start the truck and provide power to the systems until the alternator turns on.

How HyperStart™ Changes the System
1
Replaces One Battery
HyperStart™ installs directly into a standard Group 31 battery position in the battery box with no rewiring or truck modifications.
2
Isolates Starting Power
The HyperStart™ battery takes over all engine starting duties, preventing hotel loads from draining cranking capacity.
3
Boosts Voltage
to the Starter
To overcome voltage drops, HyperStart™ increases voltage to the starter during the starting event.
4
Performs in All Weather
A built-in heater ensures optimal battery temperature for reliable performance in sub-zero conditions.
Internal batteries have integrated heaters to maintain optimal battery temperature during cold-weather operation, down to -40ºC.

FAQ
-
The Oxon HyperStart™ is a direct drop-in replacement for standard Group 31 batteries, engineered specifically for truck starting systems. It contains two high-power lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) cells and integrated electronics that boost and manage voltage to deliver maximum cranking power. HyperStart operates at both 12V and 16.8V, delivers up to 4,000 amps peak current, and weighs just 18.5 lb — a fraction of the 65–70 lb weight of conventional lead‑acid Group 31 batteries.
-
In a typical four-battery configuration, one Oxon HyperStart™ replaces a single lead acid battery and is dedicated only to starting.
The remaining three batteries are freed to power hotel loads—climate control, refrigeration, sleeper electronics—without being drained by engine starts.
No rewiring or system changes are required.
-
Most no-start situations come down to three issues:
Hotel loads drain batteries overnight. Climate control, refrigeration, and sleeper electronics draw power from the same batteries used to start the engine.
Cold weather reduces battery output. Low temperatures slow the chemical reactions in lead acid batteries, reducing available cranking power.
Battery degradation.Lead acid batteries in fleet use typically last 12–18 months before capacity drops below reliable starting levels.
The Oxon HyperStart™ addresses all three by isolating starting power, maintaining temperature with an internal heater, and delivering a 5+ year lifespan.
-
HyperStart™ reduces several common fleet costs:
Battery replacements: Lead acid battery sets cost around $800-$1600 and are typically replaced every 18-24 months.
Jump start service calls: A single mobile jump start typically costs $300-$500.
Downtime: When a truck won’t start, freight stops moving and revenue is lost.
Starter motor wear: HyperStart’s high-voltage operation starts motors faster, reducing the strain on starters caused by long, slow starts using lead acid batteries, which extends the starter lifetime.
Lead acid batteries last longer: The remaining lead acid batteries last longer because they aren’t required to be at optimum power to run hotel loads.
Reduced idling: With HyperStart™ as a dedicated starting battery, there is no longer the need to idle unless the lead acid batteries are completely drained. Idling can use between 0.6 and 0.8 gallons per hour, or approximately $3.40 per hour.
With a 5+ year lifespan, HyperStart™ helps eliminate repeated battery replacements, lengthen the life of lead acid batteries, avoid service calls, extend starter motor life, and reduces idling.
-
Yes.
HyperStart™ includes an internal heater that maintains optimal battery temperature in cold conditions.
-
No.
Starter capacitors require wiring changes, therefore when they fail, they need to be replaced with another starter capacitor, which may be difficult to find.
The Oxon HyperStart™ is a true drop-in replacement for any existing 12V Group 31 battery slot. No rewiring. No vehicle modifications.
-
The Oxon HyperStart™ is currently pursuing:
SAE J1455 and TMC RP 125A certification
FCC certification
Bluetooth certification
Vibration testing is also in progress.

Other lithium Group 31 batteries simply provide the same combined general purpose function of starting the vehicle and handling hotel loads as the lead acid batteries. The Oxon HyperStart™ is different.
Its onboard electronics actively manage voltage boosting, thermal regulation, and load isolation, solving the root causes of truck starting failures and providing superior starting power while allowing the lead acid batteries to be used for the less demanding role of supplying power for the hotel loads.
HyperStart is purpose-built for truck starting systems, not a general-purpose lithium battery repackaged into a Group 31 form factor.
